A cat loafing beside you during a difficult day is basically practicing advanced therapeutic meowdicine. Of course, no scholarly institution is complete without chaos. I know that my cat, Ty, specializes in art therapy. Okay, okay, so it's not your classic Western version of meowdicine, but it's still science in a weird way. He's an artist who was born in Florence, Italy. He studied art there on and off throughout his life, and actually did all the paintings in my apartment. Don't judge a book by its cover. He may not be the late-night library researcher type, but his work with Michelangelo's Sistine Chappal renovation was extremely groundbreaking. What makes these scholarly cats so lovable is the complete sincerity they bring to their nonsense. Every action feels deeply important to them. Every paw placed directly on your work is clearly essential to the research process. They move through life with the confidence of tenured professors and the impulse control of toddlers.
